The figure seen walking through the kitchen always follows the same path, sink to refrigerator, and its features cannot be clearly distinguished. The other apparition appears to be a younger man with slick-backed hair, wearing a red shirt and jeans. The spirits have also been seen by friends of the family. A neighbor two doors down has also admitted to seeing similar apparitions.
| Darlene's parents had lived in the house previously, and could be a cause for the apparitions (father smoked cigarettes, spent much time in the kitchen, etc.) It was noted however that the family stated that the apparitions did NOT look like Darlene's father, or any other deceased members of the family. Most of the activity seemed to center around Sean, getting more persistent when he was home from college. Sean mentioned several times that he viewed the spirit(s) as unfriendly and "not good." A ouija board was used once in the house, many years ago, but nothing seemed to occur at that time. |
The team then began investigating the home.
| Phase I Boys' Room |
) The team bgan the investigation in Sean's and Mark's room, with Mark present. Temperature seemed stable, and it was noted that there was an extremely large amount of EMF readings throughout the room. This was attributed to the wires in the paneled ceiling and the arge amount of electrical devices in the room, but coud aso have been caused by paranormal activity. Photographs began showing a large number of orbs in the room, especialy in one corner - see photo to right. The room was checked for excessive amounts of dust, marks on the wall, etc. but there did not seem to be anything to account for the orbs. Sean said that his bed used to pushed up against this corner, and he would often have violent dreams The video camera was then used to record several orbs in motion with its "night shot" capability.) The team then set up a digital tape recorder to conduct EVPs. Deryl asked the majority of the questions, although they had Sean ask some as well. The results of the EVPs were negative. |
| Phase II Kitchen |
) The EMF Gauss meter began malfunctioning in the kitchen. It began going off whenever it was placed near a person, which was something it had not done previously. Sometimes it would go off in response to being near Deryl's upper body, sometimes only to his lower body, with no seeming pattern. It was checked against several other people, sometimes going off, sometimes not. It was obvious that it was malfunctioning, but what caused it to act up was uncertain; could it be normal mechanical malfunction, in response to the high EMFs in the house, or something paranormal? At one point while Deryl was holding the meter it was noted that the walls on either side of him (each approximately 3 feet away) were of the same temperature, his right elbow was of similar temperature, but his left elbow was around 10 degrees colder. When he turned around, thereby switching the sides his elbows were on, the one that had been colder slowly warmed up while the other quickly dropped...there were no drafts to explain this, and nothing else in the area showed the same lower temperature. |
| Phase III Basement |
) The team descended into the basement for the next phase of the investigation. Deryl felt somewhat unwell when he got down there, but was uncertain of its source. A few orbs were captured with the digital cameras, and Tad taped a few orbs with the night shot. After having been down there awhile, Deryl saw what appeared ot be a moving cobweb of some sort at the far end of the basement in the light of his flashlight. Sean also said he saw it, and Deryl moved in closer to see what it was; when he reached the wall there was nothing there, although he saw it the whole time he was walking towards it. Nothing could be found to have caused its appearance (and disappearance). |
| Phase IIII Living Room |
) ) ) When using the night shot in the living room, it revealed what appeared to be a circular patch on the carpet, around the size of a hand. The lights were then turned on, but the spot was not visible to the naked eye. The lights were turned off once more, and the spot was still there, along with a large orb which flew out from under the coffee table near the spot. Mitch was guided by the team, and out his hand directly on top of the spot; with the lights on again, the spot remained invisible. As the team was preparing to leave, they began getting numerous orb shots with the digital cameras. They were first centered upon one wall, and then made their way around the room, as the series of pictures taken will show. See some of the photos to the right. |
The family's story held up well even when interviewed seperately, and there is no reason to doubt their claims. Numerous friends have also encountered phenomena in the home, which gives the story even more credence. The team encountered several things that night which could be chalked up to "coincidence," but when they are put all together with the video and stills that were captured, it seems to us that this home is definitely undergoing activity.
We are planning to visit the house again, even though it was reported on June 6, 2002 that nothing has occured since we visited. A "stakeout" from 1:00 AM - 3:00 AM is being planned, and we will publish an addendum to this investigation after it occurs.
