"I attended the Gettysburg Ghost Hunter Conference on May 4th and May 5th, 2002. I had previously been to the 2000 conference in Gettysburg, which dealt mostly with ghosts, spirits, and the paranormal in general. This time the main topic of conversation were EVP's: how to get them, how to set it up on your computer, and how to turn it into a .wav file. It was very interesting learning how to do this, as I, myself did get an EVP on the battlefield and hope to get the Cool Edit program as specified by the lecturers to have the .wav file available for all to hear sometime in the near future.
The rest of the conference was also very enlightening, due to the fact that the paranormal researchers have now tried something new, which I don't think has been done before. This is also related to the EVP's, but what is so intriguing is that they have now gone back over many videos they have taken, for one specific reason: to see if they could hear "ghostly" voices underneath the ramdom chatter...and, they have done just that! They have captured these ghostly voices and it is really amazing to hear; one stands out in my mind that was captured as the researchers were talking. The voice is that of an old woman and she just says "Happy Birthday", but it is very powerful and extremely clear when you hear it! There are many other examples, and I dare say that this will become another tool of ghost hunting since it seems very effective and relatively easy to do with the editing programs out there.
All in all the conference was a success, with nearly 200 in attendance, and it was very enjoyable and enlighteningl; I would definitely recommend it next year to anyone who has never been to the conference, or to Gettysburg itself, as Gettysburg has a life of its own and one never gets bored there. I have been there many times, and do intend to go back again."
